Pioneers
Through a variety of topical activities, outdoor play games, role play and craft, the children are introduced to a wide range of familiar and new skills and experiences through which they can practice, explore, investigate and learn. Music and movement, songs, action rhymes, stories and group discussions are also used to help the children enjoy learning.
Through the thoughtfully planned curriculum and taking children’s interests into account, children are stimulated into wanting to learn and thus become well prepared in all the basic skills. The children are exposed to activities through structured and free play which is balanced with quieter periods of the day such as story time and small group table top activities. The Pioneers Room has access to an interactive whiteboard. This technology is used in a variety of ways and enables the children to become confident with this prior to starting school. The Pioneers children have daily access to our amazing outdoor adventure playground.
The Pioneers room benefits from having an adjoining outdoor classroom. This enables us to provide the children with all weather learning and helps us to split the room and creates opportunities for smaller group activities.
We support the children to be involved with our local community by going to visits to the Willows nursing home, The CofE Academy, visits to the local library and museum! We are also very lucky and Have access to the schools forest school as well as their playing field for leavers parties and sports days!
We implement the Curiosity Approach as well as the Early Years Foundation Stage framework to plan for children’s individual development and next steps. All children have a ‘Learning Journal’ detailing this with lots of lovely photographs showing your child enjoying their time at Nursery.
