"Children of all abilities, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, make choices about what they want to do. They move around well-planned rooms, selecting resources that they are interested in. Children enjoy a range of activities that staff plan to support their curiosity. They are encouraged to become independent learners and develop confidence. "

The Adventurers Room is for children from the age of approx. 12 months to approx. 2 years. There is a maximum of 15 children with a minimum 3:1 children to adult ratio. This is a warm and inviting room which leads directly into the dedicated under two’s outdoor play area.

As children begin to gain confidence they begin to explore further and can participate in a wide range of educational and fun activities such as; Sensory, role play, stories and songs and creative activities. Children go outdoors to play daily in our specially designed garden where we have a vast range of outdoor play equipment for children to explore. The garden is full of plants, mud kitchen, sand pit and flowers to provide a homely yet stimulating outdoor environment.

The Adventurers room also has a separate ‘Sensory’ room. This is used for small group activities and provides a quieter opportunity to develop their concentration skills and relax in a calm and comforting environment. Which is also their sleep room. The room is set up to be a cozy safe space where children can relax and re-energize.

We implement the Curiosity Approach as well as the Early Years Foundation Stage framework to plan for children’s individual development and next steps. All children have a ‘Learning Journal’ detailing this with lots of lovely photographs showing your child enjoying their time at Nursery.
